Melina Nava Perez

Melina Nava Perez (born March 9, 1979) is an American professional wrestler. She is best known for her time with World Wrestling Entertainment under the ring name Melina.

Perez joined the independent professional wrestling circuit in 2000 before signing with WWE in 2004. Initially, she was a manager for the tag team MNM. She managed them to three reigns as WWE Tag Team Champions, as well as Johnny Nitro to two reigns as WWE Intercontinental Champion. Perez made her WWE singles debut in 2005 and is an three-time WWE Women's Champion, winning the belt twice in 2007 and once in 2009. She also captured the WWE Divas Championship on two occasions in 2009 and 2010, making her a five-time champion overall. As a WWE Diva, Perez was noted for her trademark ring entrance which involved performing the splits on the wrestling ring's apron. She was released from her contract with WWE on August 5, 2011.

 

She is currently in a long term on-and-off relationship with John Hennigan, previously known as Johnny Nitro and now as John Morrison, whom she managed on-screen. After one of their break ups, Perez was in a short-term relationship with Dave Batista, who claims that the duo began their relationship after his divorce from his wife.

In my opinion she was the best female wrestler ever. I thought she would have a great career in the WWE. I was shocked when I first started hearing the rumours about the details of her relationship with John Morrison, but I was even more shocked when I found out she had been fired. Apparently she was becoming too much of a problem backstage, particularly after she was replaced at Wrestlemania by a returning Trish Stratus. She was upset, and rightfully so, but she made a big scene and her boyfriend John was extremely rude to Trish. Is it a coincidence that neither of them work for the company anymore? But its too bad, imagine if they had just turned it into a storyline and had a match between Melina and Trish Stratus, that would have been amazing!
