Brock vs Rock... Again?

The WWE has seen great success over the last two years with the returns of The Rock and Brock Lesnar, and now the company has reportedly decided that the 2013 edition of SummerSlam must feature both men in some capacity.

According to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestling Inc.), the WWE is going all-in on this show in hopes of getting as much mainstream media attention as possible:

There is talk of using both Brock Lesnar and The Rock at this year's SummerSlam pay-per-view. WWE really wants the Hollywood community to be part of SummerSlam's festivities and both stars would help make it seem like a bigger event.

The inclusion of these two megastars will undoubtedly put the pay-per-view buys for the event through the roof and garner the mainstream media attention the company desires, but the possibilities for dream matches for each wrestler should have the WWE Universe ecstatic.

Not only could The Rock and Brock Lesnar have legendary feuds with almost any of the young stars on the roster—thus putting them over like never before—the duo could end up rekindling their own storied feud from 2002.

With SummerSlam marking the 11th anniversary of the battle between The Rock and Lesnar, the idea that these two men will once again be on the same card is an amazing proposition.

Both stars would only be on TV for a limited amount of dates leading up to SummerSlam, so as long as the WWE, Lesnar and The Rock could work out the schedule, the best scenario would be these two veterans squaring off against each other in the wrestling equivalent of a ‘Prize Fight’.

No matter who these stars battle at the 2013 edition of SummerSlam, the fact that they are back in the WWE and back on the same card could result in so many possible dream matches that fantasy bookers across the world are genuinely overwhelmed.

Dream Matches for The Rock

Dolph Ziggler—The Rock is one of the most entertaining men in the history of sports entertainment, but the possibility that he could work with one of the most talented young stars in the WWE would be such a boost to Dolph Ziggler and his character.

Ziggler doesn’t have the mainstream cache to make this bout the huge draw it would be with John Cena or another huge star, but with The Rock in this match and Brock Lesnar on the card, the WWE could get away with using this show to catapult its own stars to mainstream notoriety.

Chris Jericho—Just like The Rock, Chris Jericho has no problem with leaving the WWE for extended periods of time and returning to work short-term programs. What better way to use both of their talents than by having the duo face off for the month leading up to the PPV?

The Rock and Y2J are two of the more talented mic workers in the history of the business, and the duo’s previous battles on the mic and in the ring will make this something older wrestling fans would support.

The Undertaker—The Undertaker could fight a broom at this year’s SummerSlam and people would pay to see it, but adding a main attraction that features both the WWE legend and The Rock in the same ring would be a huge coup for the show.

This is by far the longest shot of the three possibilities, but The Rock could easily beat The Undertaker at SummerSlam, effectively setting up the duo’s rematch at WrestleMania 30; streak versus career.

Dream Matches for Brock Lesnar

CM Punk—According to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestling Inc.), there are already plans in the works to have Lesnar square off against CM Punk at this year’s SummerSlam. If the report comes to fruition, this would be a WrestleMania-worthy match.

Punk and Lesnar are both Paul Heyman guys, and the fact that Punk was possibly not involved with The Shield and Brad Maddox could lead to the former champion attacking Heyman. As we have seen on Raw, Lesnar will retaliate against anyone that crosses his mouthpiece.

Ryback—Lesnar is an absolute freak of nature and one of the strongest men that has ever stepped foot in a WWE ring. If the company is dead-set on putting Ryback over, the WWE must pit these two behemoths against each other.

There would be nothing technically crisp about this match or this feud, but as long as Heyman is there to help Lesnar keep his aura without saying a word on the mic, the sheer brutality of the war these two would wage on each other would top what Triple H and Lesnar did last year.

The Undertaker—For many wrestling fans across the world, the ultimate dream match would be Brock Lesnar versus The Undertaker. It doesn’t matter what the stipulation is or the story behind the feud because this feud is something that has been brewing for over a decade.

While most would prefer this superfight on the WrestleMania stage, if The Undertaker’s long-term plans have him scheduled to feud someone else, making time for a SummerSlam match would make the show legendary.
