This is the dream match we have all been waiting for, and it took place in his home town of Long Island in front of all his family and friends, most importantly his Dad. Zack Ryder finally got his shot! And he did not disappoint! Zack Ryder defeated Dolph Ziggler with the "Rough-Ryder" to win the United States Championship! I don't know what was better, seeing Zack land the "Rough-Ryder", watching the referee make the three-count, or watching Zack celebrating at ringside after the match with his Dad! This win was long overdue and it couldn't have happened to a better guy!
This was an ok match, nothing too special. Its good to see Evan Bourne back from his suspension. I guess he will think twice about going to a party and smoking a joint again lol. (R-Truth who was at the same party is still suspended). I assumed they would lose the titles during the suspension. When Bourne came back and he lost to Primo and Epico in a non-title match I thought that was a bad sign and they would lose the titles at TLC. Well that was not the case. Bourne jumped out of the ring and sacrificed himself to take out one memeber of the other team and left Kofi to hit his finisher "Trouble-In-Paradise" for the win. I guess Air Boom is back and ready to go!
Table Match - Randy Orton VS Wade Barrett
This was Barrett's big chance to prove himself. He was given a match against Randy Orton who just in recent history has helped to put over such stars as Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry, and Christian. This seems to be Orton's role as of late, to put over the next top guys who will become World Champion. I think its a waste for Orton but someone needs to give these guys a push into the top level. I think Ziggler's matches with Orton and Edge proved him as a main event star. Cody Rhodes was wasting away until Randy Orton cracked his head open with the ring bell and a feud started between the two of them that pushed Cody Rhodes up to the level of Dolph Ziggler as the next top guys in the company. In the meantime Orton main evented Smackdown with such guys as Christian and Shameus, and then went on to drop the World Championship to Mark Henry putting him over as the top guy. Well it seems clear that the WWE would like Orton to pull off the same magic with the next guy on their list which seems to be Wade Barrett. However, Barrett just doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that is going to rise to that level. I think he is going to fizzle just like Jack Swagger. I think all the pushing in the world won't get him over anymore than he already is.
Side Note: In fact, I was just saying the other day that since the WWE clearly needs major Tag-Teams, and Air Boom needs a Heel team, I would put Cody Rhodes together with Dolph Ziggler and have them win the Tag-Team Championships and have a major run with the belts. Well I was thinking another good team would be Wade Barrett and Jack Swagger. They both have a lot of talent, but neither one of them have any personality or connection with the audience. Maybe if they work together they can come up with an angle that will work.
Anyways, the match was boring, and Barrett botched the ending horribly. He was supposed to jump off the top rope onto Randy Orton who was laying on the table. Only Orton was going to jump out of the way and catch Barrett into an RKO through the table. Well Barrett overshot the table almost completely and his knees and feet went through the table and then Orton managed to catch his head and drop him in the middle of the ring. It was pathetic. This was a night where a few stocks skyrocketed and a few others plummeted. Wade Barrett was one stock that I would say is plummeting in the WWE.
Diva's Championship - Beth Phoenix VS Kelly Kelly
I know we all love Kelly Kelly, but I'm going to just say what we are all thinking... Kelly Kelly can't wrestle! She screams like an idiot through the whole match, and honestly she is more annoying than Vickie Guerrero. She screwed up one of her own moves so bad Beth had to catch her before she fell on her own head. How bad does it look when the person who is supposed to be trying to hurt you has to save you from hurting yourself lol. The ending of the match was strange. It really didn't seem like a finish at all. Beth picked Kelly up for a Power-Bomb, dropped backwards to drop Kelly on her face. There was a long delay and then Beth just pinned Kelly for the win. It seems like there should have been more. Either way, it was a bad match. Get rid of Kelly Kelly and find a Diva that can wrestle!
I think both wrestlers are old and past their prime. I think they should both be slowing down and stepping back. I thought it was great when Triple H replaced Vince and was going to run the WWE. I also thought it was great when Kevin Nash returned at the Royal Rumble. When Nash got involved in the CM Punk match I thought it was an angle to put Nash with Triple H and have them try to stop CM Punk. Instead they turned against each other and Triple H stepped back from running the company to try to pretend he is still a wrestler. When he tried the first time he embarrassed himself against CM Punk and when Nash tried to "Jack-Knife" him we all saw what happened. Nash couldn't lift Triple H, and Triple H couldn't sit up, so Triple H was dropped on his shoulder and sidelined with an injury. Well this match was better than expected. Nash actually climbed a ladder and took a fall off the ladder through a table. I was impressed. The pedigree was embarrassingly bad, but otherwise I thought the match was good. I think Nash deserves props for a better than expected match. He had a lot of people to prove wrong and I think he gave it all he had. Congrats!
Not sure what to say about this match. Big Show started the match by throwing about a dozen chairs in the ring. I think Mark Henry hit the Big Show once. I think the Big Show hit Mark Henry once. Of course the Big Show's punch knocked out Mark Henry and he got the three-count. However, after the match Mark Henry attacked the Big Show and knocked him out and left him laying in the middle of the ring. The crowd started chanting "Daniel Bryan" and of course his music hit and out came Daniel Bryan with his Money In The Bank Briefcase. He finally cashed it in and covered the unconscious Big Show to win the World Championship! I think its about time. It's too bad the Big Show finally ended his 9 year drought without a championship only to lose it in only a few seconds. But to be honest, Mark Henry and the Big Show are both boring and I had no interest in that match. Now I think Daniel Bryan might actually have a few good World Championship matches upcoming! I wish him the best of luck!
Intercontinental Championship - Cody Rhodes VS Booker T
Cody jumped Booker backstage. The match was delayed. Cody jumped Booker on his way to the ring. The match was delayed. They added a match between Jack Swagger and Sheamus to replace it. That match sucked. It was short and Sheamus won with the kick he always wins with. Jack was boring as usual. For the record I think Jack has lots of talent, he is just boring and dull. Sheamus is being wasted. Sheamus should be a champion! When Booker T finally made it to the ring successfully, that was basically as far as he got. Cody beat him from one end of the ring to the other. Booker looked old and out of shape. I think they tried to cover that up with the excuse that he had been attacked twice before the match. I think the truth is, Booker T just doesn't have it anymore. Much like Kevin Nash. Cody won the match with the "Cross-Rhodes" and it was a short match... thankfully.
TLC Match - WWE Championship - CM Punk VS The Miz VS Alberto Del Rio
Great match! Punk stole the show of course. Del Rio and his announcer managed to handcuff Punk to the bottom of a ladder. Punk just broke the ladder and got free. Ricardo took a huge fall of the top of the biggest ladder to a table on the floor below. That took him out of the match. Punk took a pretty big fall from the top rope to a table on the floor below. Del Rio was pretty much out of the picture, for whatever reason. It came down to Punk and Miz. Miz managed to get Punk in the corner, and he took the end of the handcuffs that were still on Punk's wrist and handcuffed Punk to the second rope turnbuckle. As the Miz went to climb the ladder, so did Del Rio. Punk had to unscrew the middle rope to get free and stop the Miz and Del Rio. He hit the Miz with the GTS, Del Rio just disappeared, and Punk climbed the ladder and retrieved his WWE Championship belt!
To recap, WWE Champion CM Punk, World Champion Daniel Bryan, Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes, Diva's Champion Beth Phoenix, Tag-Team Champions Air Boom, and United States Champion Zack Ryder
