Original WWE Royal Rumble Plans

There was a creative plan in place for the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view that would have seen John Cena enter, win the match and earn a title shot at WrestleMania 28. As the storyline would have gone, Cena would have been forced to choose between a WWE Title match or a match against The Rock at WrestleMania 28. Obviously that didn't happen.

As we noted earlier this morning here on the website, WWE officials also had several scenarios planned out for Randy Orton to win in his hometown of St. Louis. That obviously didn't happen either.

Who cares about Cena, I've been sick of him for 10 years now! Just turn him Heel already and have him lose to The Rock, I really just want the hype to be over with. If they really want to do something big they should have Hulk Hogan run out and kick both their asses!

Supposedly, the reason WWE officials decided on having Sheamus win the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble match was to throw a curve ball at numerous fans who were expecting Chris Jericho to win. The line Michael Cole used on commentary in which he asked what title Sheamus would challenge for at WrestleMania 28 was designed to make fans believe the storylines were just shaken up big time. It should also be noted that WWE officials are high on the way Sheamus presents himself backstage and in public. They've had plans to push him hard for the past year or so.

For the record, I think people didn't just expect Jericho to win, they hoped he would win because that would have been the best possible outcome. Instead, they made a joke of the Rumble like they have the past couple years now. I don't think a random mid-card wrestler should win the Rumble just to make it more of a surprise. I think it should be someone that is deserving. Like a Hall Of Fame wrestler who has done everything in his career except with the King Of The Ring and The Royal Rumble... that would be Chris Jericho. Why hasn't he won either?
