CM Punk Takes Over The NWO

Last night on his official Twitter page, former WCW/WWE superstar and NWO leader Kevin Nash wrote the following:

@RealKevinNash: A lot of you wanted an NWO reunion, there will be one.As you know we only come in take over mode.Stay tuned!!

@RealKevinNash: Rock will never walk out of the Rumble with the belt we got Phils back

@RealKevinNash: Sorry @CMPunk we got your back!!!!

@RealKevinNash: @av812 Punk leader,NWO army to protect the gold

So that explains CM Punk's heel turn and his white and black attire this past Monday night on Raw!

In all seriousness, either Nash was drunk when he wrote those tweets (and ruined what would have been an awesome surprise) or he is just toying with the WWE universe. Personally, I hope Nash simply ruined a surprise, but I strongly believe Nash was just toying with the fans.

While I don't believe NWO will return anytime soon, I do believe CM Punk will, in the near future, run his own super faction.

Nearly two months ago, I predicted that CM Punk would join Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar in a takeover of the WWE. More specifically, I predicted that CM Punk would turn heel due to being overshadowed, and that he would recruit under-appreciated/disgruntled wrestlers and dominate the WWE until John Cena, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin stepped in and faced the faction at Survivor Series.

It would be Team McMahon vs. Team Heyman at Survivor Series, with new, highly-anticipated feuds being born—such as CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker. In my opinion, the idea of a Team McMahon vs. Team Heyman Survivor Series match is not as far-fetched as an NWO reunion.

CM Punk's role as a heel in the past has been great and one of the reasons why he is so appreciated in the wrestling community. The question that remains now on everyone's mind is: How will Punk go about establishing himself as a heel?

Punk's heel turn began when after the straight edge superstar took advantage of a fallen-down John Cena and was perpetuated by his actions upon attacking a returning Rock. Could the turn continue with CM Punk aligning himself with a heel faction like he has done in the past?

Punk's best work as a heel has seen him as the leader of stables such as the Straight Edge Society and the New Nexus—it is possible that once again Punk will create or perhaps reestablish a heel stable? Kevin Nash sure thinks so.

Could Kevin Nash's tweet be a ruse? Or does the WWE in fact plan to bring back a modern version of the nWo with CM Punk as its leader?

In the end, Nash could just be kidding, but if what he is suggesting is true, things may have just gotten interesting.
