TNA Open Fight Night / Gut Check

Robbie E
So TNA had their first Open Fight Night and Gut Check on this past week's Impact. I must say it was more exciting than typical episodes of Impact.

The show started with the Television Championship match because Hulk Hogan said that the Television Championship must be defended every week on Impact. Apparently the Champion gets to decide who gets the title shot. In this case, the Champion Devon called out his former Tag-Team partner for the past 15 years Bully Ray. I was expecting Bully Ray to win the match and the title, but Devon got the win.

The Gut Check wasn't really what I expected. When Hogan said someone outside of TNA would be brought in for a match I thought he meant someone that currently wasn't under contract, like a WWE, MMA, or UFC star. Like Bobby Lashley or Bill Goldberg might walk out. But its just a rookie try out for a nobody who has never wrestled anywhere to come and try out. This week they had some guy come out and lose to Robbie E and Al Snow told the fans to go online and vote if the rookie should get a contract. I don't think he should. He was  too small, and he just ran around swinging wildly at Robbie and didn't look like he knew how to wrestle. He never used one actual wrestling move, just swung horrible punches at Robbie. But that's just my opinion.

Jeff Hardy
The highlight of the show was when Brooke Tessmacher walked out to the ring and called out Gail Kim, the Knockouts Champion. Tessmacher had pinned Kim in a Tag-Team match last week and wanted to prove it wasn't a fluke. Well that is exactly what she did. Brooke pinned Gail for the second week in a row, this time one on one. Unfortunately, it was not a title match, but I can't help but think that its only a matter of time before Tessmacher is the next Knockouts Champion... perhaps at Sacrifice!

The main event would be a Championship match, and Hulk Hogan would choose what Championship would be defended and who would get the title shot. This time Hogan chose the Tag-Team Champions Samoa Joe and Magnus. For the challengers he rejected The Motorcity Machine Guns, Daniels and Kazarian, and the Knockouts Tag-Team Champions ODB and EY. Instead, Hogan picked a new team of Ken Anderson and Jeff Hardy. That is a team I have always wanted to see and I was really hoping they would win the Championships. But they could not seem to work together and they lost the match. I hoped this was a build up to a match at Sacrifice, but apparently that match goes to Christoper Daniels and Frank Kazarian.
