Smackdown Rebound

CM Punk took on Kane in the main event. Daniel Bryan interfered. Now the WWE Championship match at No Way Out is going to be a triple threat. Punk vs Kane vs Bryan.

Dolph Ziggler stepped up and faces Sheamus. I thought Ziggler did a good job. Its too bad Orton got suspended when it was Ziggler's turn to get a feud going with him. Orton is in my opinion the most talented wrestler and biggest star in the WWE. John Cena is obviously the franchise player, but he is always the top star, always looking out for just himself. John Cena will be in some gimmick against whoever is willing to lose to Cena. Orton on the other hand, is already a big star and is now willing to move to Smackdown and use his popularity to put over all the up and coming heels in the WWE today.

Lets just look at Orton's list in the past year. Since moving to Smackdown, Orton worked with Christian trying to build up a major feud for the World Championship. I thought they had a great match when Orton RKOed Christian on the steel steps in the middle of the ring. But the WWE decided they wanted to put the belt on Mark Henry, so Orton put him over as the Champion. Then Henry went on to work with the Big Show and Daniel Bryan. In the mean time Orton put over Cody Rhodes who then went on to become the Intercontinental Champion. Then Orton put over Wade Barrett, but before he could go for a championship he got injured. Orton was also one of the guys that helped put over Sheamus.

It seems like who ever Randy Orton faces turns to gold and their career just sky-rockets afterwards. So its a shame Orton got suspended for 60 days right when he was supposed to start putting Dolph Ziggler into the main event picture. I think they would have had the best matches and Ziggler would have been a perfect opponent for Orton. Oh well, maybe in a couple months.

I guess the big story of this week's Smackdown was the very long awaited return of the injured Sin Cara. He returned with a new look, dressed in red instead of blue. He ran to the ring, but slide under the bottom rope instead of jumping over the top rope. The crowd seemed really disappointed. He didn't seem as exciting as he did before. To be honest I think it will take a lot of work to rebuild this character. The whole fake Sin Cara thing made them look stupid I think, and then all the injuries and suspensions have just ruined his chances I think. In my opinion they should have just kept Hunico as Sin Cara. He seems to be more successful and talented. He hasn't been out with an injury or suspension and his moves seem better. But it might not be too late. They might be able to build this guy back up. The little kids love him, and his character and gimmick is a new and improved version of Rey Mysterio. So you can't really go wrong with that I guess. Kids will always love the smaller guys, the high flying guys, and of course, the masked superheroes. He just needs to stick around and let the kids now he's not going to disappear on them again any time soon.
