Great Khali Underwent Brain Surgery

There was nothing great about what WWE superstar The Great Khali had to deal with on Wednesday in a Pittsburgh hospital.

The seven-foot former World Heavyweight champion underwent brain surgery for a tumor in his pituitary gland, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Fortunately, it's reported the surgery was a success and he's expected to be released from the hospital soon.

This kind condition had added significance given Khali's size and how the legendary Andre "The Giant" suffered from something similar.

The Great Khali has never been looked at as a consistent top in-ring talent in WWE, but he certainly provides great value to the sports entertainment company.

His overwhelming size makes him an attraction that one fully appreciates when seeing him at a live event. In addition to him being a “believe it when you see it” attraction, Khali also serves as an ambassador to the outside world.

Having appeared in various television shows, commercials and Hollywood films, perhaps his biggest role in an American film was in Get Smart, starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and fellow wrestler, The Rock.

In addition to being seen on the big screen, The Great Khali is a well-respected figure and peace activist in his home country of India.

Khali brings mainstream attention to WWE—which is something WWE values in wanting to be looked at as more than just a wrestling company.

No official information or statement from WWE has been given regarding Khali's future as an in-ring performer in WWE.
